They erase well, they're light and easy to hang, and they're moveable (although you would need to buy more of the 3M adhesive strips). They also have a nice look to them. We tried the "whiteboards" that are sheets you tear off and stick on the wall, and those were awful. This is a great compromise to getting a big, full-size whiteboard.

Bic "Great Erase" works perfectly, but if I really mark it up, a bit of rubbing alcohol and a cotton cloth makes it look good as new.
I lived the beveled edges that don't interfere with your hand as you write.
