The box had been opened and re-sealed several times, with layers of tape stuck over the ends.
The cardboard was covered in old address labels and bar-code stickers which had been partially ripped off by hand, with my address slapped on top. The corkboard inside was utterly demolished from end-to-end. I shop at Amazon all the time and I've never seen anything like this.
Obviously, my experience is not indicative of every shipment. But when I see "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com", I assume that reasonable steps are taken to assure quality. In this case, they absolutely weren't.
Buyer beware.

Mine arrived missing the hanging hardware, but I contacted the manufacturer and they shipped a new set of hardware.
